Bohol, an island province located in the Central Visayas region, is one of the most popular tourist destination of the Philippines because of its many magnificent natural formations, river fronts, beach resorts, diving spots, and centuries-old churches. Famous for the world-renowned Chocolate Hills (numerous mounds of brown-coloured limestone formations), tourists are also attracted to the island’s diving destinations regarded as one of the most diverse marine ecosystem in the world. It is also home to the now endangered Philippine tarsier, among the world’s smallest primates, that is indigenous to the island.

Historically, Bohol was the seat of the first international treaty of peace and unity, when an alliance signified by a blood compact between the native king Datu Sikatuna and Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi took place on March 16, 1565, which is known today by many Filipinos as the Sandugo.

These pictures were taken during my trips to the island on separate occasions, 2012 and 2017.
