We have not done any vlog lately due to the unspeakable word that Youtube does not want to use. I mean the word will get your work blocked. Anyway, we are able to find a place called, “Jim Thompson House” which is a landmark area in Bangkok.
Jim Thompson, a Delaware born, came to Thailand at the end of World War II after his military plan landed. He became interested in the silk trader and set up his company to export Thai silk to the USA. One of the famous work would be the costume that was seen in the Hollywood’s 1956 film called, ” The King and I”.
Jim built his silk empire in Thailand and travelled between Asia and American continents during 1950s. As an art collector, he gathered the painting and statues from Southeast Asia. He put them inside his home in Baan Krua district where it was the weaving community back in the day.
Jim went missing in 1967 when he went to Malaysia. It is still an unsolved case. There were some strange theories range from being eaten by tigers or ransom kidnapping. This case is still open for a discussion.
Today Jay will take you to see the inside the Jim’s house. You will see the home of the missing millionaire. We heard from the staffs that most of the furniture were kept in the way that they were like in 1960.
