Since its foundation as the cave monastery in 1051, the Lavra has been a center of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe, it is part of a UNESCO World Heritage
The history of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra begins in 11 century , during the reign of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. Seeking solitude, the monks were looking for solitude and organized a cave city here.
One of the monks Anthony settled here and became the founder of the Pechersk Monastery. Together with him another monk Theodosius, created one of the most famous cathedrals
For many centuries Lavra survived many attacks from enemies, but huge damage to the architectural and historical values of the Lavra was caused during the WORLD War 2 .In 1941, the Assumption Cathedral in Kiev was blown up.
The Great Lavra Bell Tower is the main bell tower of the ancient cave monastery of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra .
It was built in 18 century with total height 96,5 meters
