In Japan, 20 years old is special, like sweet 16 in the US
You will see  many girls wearing gorgeous kimono around the city. Many girls would make an appointment at beauty salons to dress up and to set their hair. It may take 5 or 6 hours to prepare everything for the ceremony. Girls wear furisode, a style of kimono with long sleeves, and zori sandals. Wearing furisode symbolizes a fresh start in your life.
