Lawang is a district in Malang Regency, East Java. Lawang is known as a resort city since the Dutch colonial era. Because it is not surprising that until now there are still many ancient Dutch-style buildings in Lawang, including the train station which is one of the stopovers for the South line train from Surabaya to Malang.
However, recently Lawang has been carried away by modernization with the emergence of various industries, especially the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Geographically, Lawang is located in the mountains and surrounded by Mount Arjuno and Mount Semeru. Lawang District is bordered by Singosari District, Malang Regency and Purwodadi District, Pasuruan Regency.
Tourist attractions in Lawang include PTP XXIII Wonosari Tea Plantation, Polaman Bath, Sanggar Swimming Pool, Krabayakan Tourism Village, Mount Wedon.
In addition, many ancient buildings in Lawang are former Dutch heritage.
Together with Singosari and Kepanjen, Lawang is known as the main supporting satellite city of Malang City, which is included in the Greater Malang area.
