Kōtoku-in Buddha temple:

Taiizan Kotokuin Shojosenji (大異山高徳院清浄泉寺), or Kōtoku-in (高徳院) is a Jōdo-shū Buddhist temple in the city of Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

The temple is renowned for its “Great Buddha” (大仏 Daibutsu), a monumental outdoor bronze statue of Amida Buddha, which is one of the most famous icons of Japan. It is also a designated National Treasure, and one of the twenty-two historic sites included in Kamakura’s proposal for inclusion in UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

Bamboo forest:

Hōkoku-ji is an old temple in the Kenchō-ji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism located in Kamakura, Japan. Famous for its bamboo garden, it is also known as “Bamboo Temple”. A statue of Gautama Buddha, called Shaka Nyorai in Japanese, in a sacred hall is the temple’s principal image.

Kamakura Yuigahama Beach

When strolling around Kamakura, you really should make your way down to the beach. The early morning is one of the best times, with only a few tourists and mainly the fishermen bringing in their catch. You can “frolic” in the waves if you want. The water is relatively clean and warm. Grab a spot on the beach, but watch out for the hawks….they’ll swoop down and grab the burger right from your hand. Enjoy!
