Hello everyone!! This is the channel of “GOTO ISLANDS” focusing on the highlights of the Goto Islands(an archipelago of some 140 islands)on the East China Sea. Today, unlike other uploaded my videos, I uploaded self introduction video of my tour.
The destination of the tour is a castle town of SAKURA located in Chiba, that is approximately 1,100 km far away from the Goto Islands and unexpectedly has many things in common with the archipelago in terms of history and culture. That’s why I have offered the tour of the town!!
For example, SAKURA Castle used to serve as a strategic point to protect the east of Edo(old Tokyo), which reminds me of the historical fact that Ishida castle in the Goto Islands was constructed as an early warning post for foreign ships approaching the Japanese shore at the end of the Edo Period,and was ideal fortress to be used as a coastal defense.
Incidentally,I’m now planning the tour of the Goto Islands, too!!

(皆さん、今日は!! 東シナ海を臨む140余りもの島々からなる五島列島の見所を中心に取り上げる番組、“GOTO ISLANDS”です。今日は、ちょっと他のビデオと違って、マイツアーの紹介ビデオです。当ツアーは、五島列島から、遠く1100km離れた千葉の城下町佐倉ですが、意外にも文化歴史面で五島とは共通点が多い事からツアーを用意してみました。例えば、佐倉城は、曾て江戸の東の守りを固める戦略拠点の役割を果たしましたが、その事は、五島列島の石田城が、幕末に日本沿岸に近づく外国船に備えての警戒駐屯地として築城され、沿岸警備に供されるべき砦として理想的な城郭であったと言う史実を想起させるものです。

[About my channel and GOTO-rettou archipelago](当チャンネルと五島列島について)
“GOTO ISLANDS : Japan Travel Guide”filmed by National Licensed Guide-Interpreter is the special channel of travel report literally focusing on the highlights of magnificent archipelago of GOTO ISLANDS. GOTO ISLANDS, or GOTO RETTOU in Japanese, literally means 5 major islands of archipelago, is made up of 140 islands including ５major ones represented by FUKUE-jima island which is the largest one among them. GOTO RETTOU, on the east China sea,100 km off the coast of NAGASAKI city in western KYUSYU,abounds in many, many scenic and historic sites. In terms of scenic beauty,GOTO RETTOU is designated as SAIKAI National Park noted for its magnificent archipelago seascape. Additionally,in terms of historic sites, some places are designated as JAPAN HERITAGE(governmental designation),and others are registered on the tentative list of UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage!!
Accordingly, I think few places in Japan can rival this archipelago’s wealth of historic and scenic sites.
So,that’s why I decided to open this channel to send you travel report on this amazing archipelago by utilizing my knowledge as licensed guide.
