Welcome back to another video by SpottersUK! Today we are on The South Western Mainline at Clapham Junction. In This Video you will be seeing services from South Western Railway, Southern, Gatwick Express and also London Overground. Clapham Junction has a wide range of station destinations with Trains bound for Weymouth, Milton Keynes Central, Brighton, Portsmouth Harbour and also Services in and around London such as Stratford, London Waterloo and Victoria!
Clapham Junction is the Busiest Station in the UK and also one of the Busiest In Europe with up to 180 Trains at hour either stopping or passing through the station. With it being one of the busiest stations you can imagine there is a lot going on and you wouldn’t be wrong. I filmed at Clapham Junction for around half an hour on Platform 8 and 9 and it was incredible, i was there from 9:45 – 10:30 which isn’t really peak time trains and the station was still extremely busy!
There is exceptional variety as well with a number of different units for South Western Railway Including 444’s,450’s,455’s,456’s,458’s and also 707’s catering all areas of the South Western Network. As i was filming, the news emerged about the decision to scrap South Western Railway’s Class 442 Units which they spent 45 Million Pound of refurbishing, it is rumoured that the 458 units will be converted into 4 carriage units and will be a replacement for the 442’s, let me know what you think about that in the comments section down below!
