Jakarta is a gateway to the many islands of Indonesia and many tourists and travellers will find themselves with a day in Jakarta. In this video you will find 11 ideas of things to do in Jakarta including some of the main sights such as the National Monument, Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral and shopping at Surubaya street market.
Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, lies on the northwest coast of Java which is the most populous island in the world. Jakarta city is well known for having lots of traffic, if you are feeling brave then grab a “Grab Taxi” to get to your destination and weave through the Jakarta traffic as a passenger on the back of a motor bike. If you head to Merdeka Square then there are a number of places within easy walking distance limiting your Jakarta traffic experience, but do take care crossing the roads, this can be quite an experience in itself if you are not used to busy Indonesian cities like this.
