Tabernas Desert or Desert de Tabernasas as it is also known, is a semi-arid desert, located in the Adalusia region of Spain. Located in the province of Almeria, the Tabernas Desert, is a popular attraction throughout the year. The area has become more popular throughout the years, down to the amount of filming has has taken place in the area. Due to the amount of filming, the area is now also known as little Hollywood.
Located just 19 miles (30 kilometers) North of Almeria itself between Filabres and Alhamilla, the desert is a great day out, if you are staying in Almeria.
Filming:
Nicknamed the Wild, Wild West of Europe the Tabernas Desert has been home to many films including many Westerns, Conan The Barbarian, Indiana Jones, as well as Game of Thrones.
There is also a movie set that you can visit, which is know as Western Leone.
