We came to Borneo to eat and made a Street Food Adventure tour video just for you. I (Trevor James, The Food Ranger) and Ting Ting as well as Chuchu, travel to the deep back streets of Kuching, in Borneo Malaysia, filming and tasting the top street foods to try in Kuching!
Some people say that Kuching is like the Penang of Borneo. With Penang being the food capital of Peninsular Malaysia, they say that Kuching is the food capital of Borneo Malaysia. There is a huge Chinese influence in Kuching and you can see lots of Chinese street food on the streets but in Malaysian style. Hawker centers are everywhere. It truly is a magical food city. There is a ton of unique cuisine to try!
Whether eating street food in Penang, Kuala Lumpur Street food, or here in Kuching having Kuching street food, it’s all good and varies in flavor but you MUST come to try the street food in all of these locations! In Peninsular Malaysia, you can find Chinese street food, Indian street food, and Malay street food all over the place. Here, in Kuching, it’s more Chinese street food and Iban, Bidayuh, and Malay street food. All of these come together to make Malaysian street food some of the best in the world!

On our trip to Borneo, we found and ate a ton of cheap (NOT EXPENSIVE) and delicious street food. We couldn’t stop eating all the street food that we found. This is one place in Asia you have to visit to eat the street food!
