Walking in Berlin on Landsberger Alley
Landsberger Allee, Berlin.

Landsberger Allee is a street in the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Pankow, Lichtenberg and Marzahn-Hellersdorf. With eleven kilometers, it is one of the longest streets in Berlin. It is also one of the main traffic arteries of the eastern districts. The street is not named after the former Brandenburg town of Landsberg an der Warthe, as is sometimes assumed, but after the much closer small town of Altlandsberg.

The name goes back to the Landsberger Straße, which used to run from Alexanderplatz to Landsberger Tor and of which it is an extension. Landsberger Allee originally ran between Landsberger Tor and Roederstraße. It was renamed Leninallee in 1950. Between 1973 and 1978, during the development of the new housing estates along the street, the streets to the east, Landsberger Chaussee, Berliner Chaussee and Chaussee nach Altlandsberg, were included in Leninallee. Since 1992, the entire street is called Landsberger Allee.
