Welcome to my Chanel — Walking Attractions
On one of sunny weekend afternoon in July 2021, I drove through Vimy Memorial Bridge and had a lovely walk on the bridge and the nearby Chapman mills trail. I particularly admired the attractive architectural design, and enjoyed the spectacular views of the surrounding area and the Rideau River.
Behind-The-Scenes Story
Originally, I didn’t have a plan to make a video on Vimy Memorial Bridge. This video was created by accident but turned out to be one of my favorite.
I wanted to film my trip to Chapman Mills Trail . As part of the storytelling, I took some shots of Vimy Memorial Bridge to illustrate how I got Chapman Mills Trail, such as drove through the bridge, parked the car and walked down the bridge to the trail.
In order to improve the quality of the picture, I decided to select 4K setting to make video on Chapman Mills Trail. When I uploaded all these clips to the computer to edit, my computer crashed because of running out of the storage to manage such large volume of data. Alternatively, I gave it a try on developing a short video to see whether my computer could handle it.
After reviewing the footage, I was quite confident that I had the sufficient clips to develop a film of Vimy Memorial Bridge so my first 4K video was born without intention.
Interestingly, after creating the video of Vimy Memorial Bridge, each time passing by it, I felt that the bridge has some connection to me. It is my bridge now.
You may wonder how I am going to do with the 4K footage of Chapman Mills Trail. Yes, I still keep them and I am going to complete the film shortly once my new computer arrives.
Thanks for my hubby who saw my potential and encouraged me to keep going and my son’s critic and advice to improve my video. I also greatly appetite my viewers who are interested in watching my videos and subscribe.
Tips
1. Great place for photography. You can always capture the best sunrise and sunset here every single day. Even the view at night is splendid.
2. There are wheelchair friendly pathways that run around and under the bridge which make it pleasant for run or walk.
3. Nearby walking attractions are AY Jackson park, Chapman Mills Trail and long island locks.
Vimy Memorial Bridge is located near Manotick and crosses the Rideau River. It connects Strandherd Drive in Barrhaven and Earl Armstrong Road in Riverside South.. This arc bridge is 469 ft long and was completed in 2014. The bridge was the 2015 winner of the Gustav Lindenthal Medal. It is named for the Battle of Vimy Ridge, as suggested by two Royal Canadian Legions in Ottawa.
