Jharkhand is a state in eastern India that means “land of trees.” Bihar to the north, Uttar Pradesh to the northwest, Chhattisgarh to the west, Odisha to the south, and West Bengal to the east from the state’s boundary. It covers an area of 79,710 square kilometres (30,778 sq mi). It is the 14th most populous state and the 15th largest by area.
The places you will see in this video is Navratnagarh Palace, Netarhat sunset point, Chalet House, Lodh Falls and jagnnath temple.
The first place where I am going to take you is the ruins of Navratangarh Palace of Nagavanshi kings who ruled the chotanagpur region from 1st century CE.This place is located 70 kilometers from Ranchi.Which is in Gumla district,which is 1.5 hrs driveaway from Ranchi.According to the legends the Chhota Nagpur plateau of Jharkhand got its name by the KIng Phani Mukut Rai because nagvanshis Used To stay here.Legends also say that Phani Mukut Rai was grandson of Takshak Nag and was born in Jharkhand which that time was known as Suitiambe.
The original name of Phani Mukut Rai was munda , he was born to Pundarik who was son of Takshak Nag and a brahmin girl Parvati but when Parvati sacrificed herself after giving birth to Munda, then Pundarik persuaded a brahmin name Janardhan and named his son Phani Mukut Rai.nitially the name of kingdom was Nagpur des but later it became chhota nagpur.These rocks you see here are said to be older than 540 million years.Now I will take you to the Sunset point of Netarhaat which I missed to see this time because of cloudy weather but I must say this is something which one should visit once in their lifetime.
Now we have reached at Chalet House. The spelling of Chalet house is CHALET but it is a french word that means a residence made up of woods. This building was established during the period of sir Edward gate who was LG of bihar and odisha in early 20TH century. It was originally utilized by British officers as a summer migration to meet with local powerful village heads. It is now used as the D.C. Latehar camp office. This house also has some equipments which were generally used by tribal people for their daily chores. This round metallic bar is known as Ser which was used as a weighing unit in ancient days.This place where I am going to take you is known as Lodh Falls which is situated in the mid forest of Palamu tiger reserve, south division of Latehar District in Jharkhand state.
This is the highest waterfall in Jharkhand and 21st highest in India. The Lodh Falls are a multi-tiered waterfall with a series of dramatic drops in rapid order. It reaches a height of 143 meters (469 feet). Even 10 kilometers away, the fall’s thundering sound may be heard.
