We stayed in the beautiful town of Kusadasi, Turkey — which meant that we were about an hour drive from the ancient ruins of Ephesus.
That also meant, there was no way we could miss the chance to see this UNESCO World Heritage Site in person.
Along the way, we got to see the Basilica of St. John, where he was thought to be buried; the House of the Virgin Mary; Turkish ceramics in action; and the famed Turkish rug weaving.
Honest thoughts:
– Ephesus is absolutely worth the visit
– The Basilica is interesting (not a can’t-miss site like Ephesus)
– The House of The Virgin Mary could be skipped unless it’s more of a pilgrimage visit
– The pottery and rug weaving were pleasant surprises (enjoyed both quite a bit)
