In this journey I visit the heart of Western Ireland. We start off with a tour of Galway City, the gateway to Western Ireland. Then head off to the famous Cliffs of Moher on the Spanish Point Peninsula. Come enjoy the fun as my family and I explore the most visited area of Western Ireland!
Galway is a international trading port and University City. Founded initially in the 11th Century, Galway has a rich history as a harbor town that brought commerce to the Western side of Ireland. Today it is a growing city full of tech and medical facilities that are top of the line in the World. Even with all that it keeps it charm with a walkable downtown and coastal walks. The Kings Head Pub is located in an 800 year old building. The Pub itself has been there for about half that time. If you wish to try all the Irish Whiskies of Ireland than look no further than Garavans Pub. Best selection of Irish Whiskies this side of the Atlantic. Finish off with some Irish Ice Cream at Murphy’s Ice Cream Store downtown. Hands down the best Ice Cream I have tried in Ireland. Pretty close to the best I’ve had in the World so far.
On day 2, we head to the famous Cliffs of Moher. If you watch videos about Ireland, this place is bound to come up. The 2nd most visited sight in all of Ireland, it is a Natural Marvel the likes no human could replicate. Mother Nature truly show her stuff with the beauty and majesty of these Cliffs. 320 million years old, the Cliffs support a variety of vegetation and wildlife both above and below the Sea. While visiting the Cliffs make sure you stop in at the visitor center for an exhibition of the Cliffs and it supports the local area.
