Lawang is a sub-district in Malang Regency, East Java. Lawang is known as a resort town since the Dutch colonial era. Therefore, it is not surprising that until now there are still many ancient Dutch-style buildings in Lawang, including the train station which is one of the stops for the Southern train from Surabaya to Malang.

Geographically, Lawang is located in the mountains and is surrounded by Mount Arjuno and Mount Semeru. Lawang District borders Singosari District, Malang Regency and Purwodadi District, Pasuruan Regency.
Tourist attractions in Lawang include Wonosari PTP XXIII Tea Garden, Polaman Baths, Studio Swimming Pool, Krabayakan Tourism Village, Mount Wedon. In addition, there are many ancient buildings in Lawang which are former Dutch relics.
Together with Singosari and Kepanjen, Lawang is known as the main supporting satellite city of Malang City, which is included in the Greater Malang area.
