There’s been a lot of talk about Splash Mountain at Disney’s Magic Kingdom [and over at Disneyland] getting a retheme to Princess and the Frog. In fact, Disney went so far as to announce the idea and share concept art. So when the attraction closed for roughly a month at Walt Disney World in early 2022, enthusiastic fans were eager to find out of this was the refurbishment that they were hoping for.

There’s a lot that can be said about the Splash Mountain retheme. Today, however, we’re going to focus our energy on talking about why we don’t think that the retheme was done during this most recent downtime and what we think the future has in store for the attraction.
