This past summer Ariana and I traveled to the island nation of Cyprus, her family’s ancestral home in the Mediterranean.

Our trip took us first to the ancient city of Nicosia. The only remaining divided capital in the world since the Turkish invasion and continual occupation of 1974.

From there, we traveled into the Troodos Mountains where we explored the village of Kakopetria and surrounding areas.

Leading us into the hills of Paphos, where in the small village of Salamiou grows olive trees descended from the same one Paul the Apostle ate from as he passed through on his way to Troodos in 45 AD.

Continuing on, we visited friends in the southern coastal city of Limassol who took us on a tour of south west Cyprus, showing us some local rock climbing, ancient Greek ruins, and a spot off the beaten path to view one of the best sunsets we have ever seen.

And finally we ended our journey in where the mountains meet the sea at Akamas Peninsula National Park. Here we explored the trails on ATVs, visited the famed baths of Aphrodite, snorkeled in the crystal clear waters of the Blue Lagoon and relaxed on the beaches of Latchi.
