Vietnam To Phnom Penh documents my first trip out of Vietnam in over two years. Overall I would say this trip was a success. Due to time constraints, I was unable to stay longer than one full day in Phnom Penh but it certainly whetted my appetite for future trips. I have been hesitating for some time to travel due to strict quarantine rules that are still in place in some countries. Since Cambodia made the bold move to drop mandatory negative Covid tests and testing on arrival more countries are falling into line like Thailand and Malaysia. I didn’t see the big or even small tour groups I’ve normally seen over the years in Phnom Penh. No French tourists, and due to the zero Covid tolerance in China no Chinese tourists. If you like this city but would appreciate less crowds at the sites, now is the time to visit Phnom Penh.
I also notice a drastic reduction in the amount of tuk tuks and motorbike taxis cruising around looking for fares. I’m looking forward to more travel as restrictions loosen across the region along with East Asia and South Asia. I hope you join me for the ride!
