At Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe they have an activity called “Walk with Lions”. I didn’t know about it, but our tour leader recommended it. It sounded amazing and exotic so I decided to do it, and I’m certainly extremely happy I did! It’s not easy to find an opportunity like this again. The program has lions at different stages of their growth cycle, and it’s luck of the draw what you’ll get – it can even be cubs. We got two-year-olds – a male called Leka and a female called Lala. I cannot describe the feeling of touching such a legendary muscular animal – my heart was pounding from excitement! While the experience was very fun, it was really nice to hear all about the conservation program and know that our payment went towards making sure lions are here for future generations to enjoy!
