It’s time to leave our expedition vehicle and tackle a two-day hike. Our destination are the Big Pine Lakes, a beautiful area in the John Muir Wilderness. Since it is our first overnight trip into bear country, we need to prepare accordingly first. In addition, multi-day hikes in the USA seem to be a complicated matter; first we have to take care of the permit. After an extremely cold night, we draw our conclusion the next day and some “learnings” for future tours. It was an adventure in any case!
