The City of Legazpi has its own airport and provides good access to Donsol. It also has its own major attraction, the active volcano Mount Mayon. We were in Legazpi for 2 nights but in reality only had a full day to sight see. We spent this day on an ATV tour with ‘Your Brother ATV’. The tour took us on the beginner trail to the Lava front of the 2006 eruption of Mount Mayan. Known as a shy volcano, we were fortunate to have a brief but excellent view of its peak when the sky cleared for around 30 minutes. We then had a short hike on the lava front and zip lined back to our ATV’s. In the evening we visited the boulevard where we had a few drinks, played some pool and sang some karaoke (The Karaoke didn’t make the cut).
If you have more time in Legazpi, there are plenty of water sports on offer and a number of trips and tours to surrounding areas.
