Palembang is a city located on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It is the capital of South Sumatra Province and the second-largest city on the island. Palembang is one of the oldest cities in Southeast Asia, and its existence can be traced back to the 7th Century when it served as the capital of the highly influential Srivijayan Empire.

The city lies on both banks of the Musi River connected by the iconic Ampera Bridge with many canals throughout the city earning it the moniker, Venice of the East. The vibrant city is also among the top destinations in the archipelago thanks to its natural beauty and a host of tourist attractions.
