We took our new Hilleberg Allak 2 tent up in to the Lake District fells for a wild camp, specifically Grey Crag in the eastern fells.
It was a far cry from our VW Camper van but being closer to nature, the outdoors has certain healing properties.
Real Turmat pulled pork and Wayfarers meatballs with pasta for tea, jetboil providing the hot water for food & drinks and down jackets & sleeping bags providing the warmth, we soon settled in to our first wild camp in 10 years.
We used to frequently wild camp in Snowdonia and Lakeland in our Terra Nova quasar, Golite Shangrila 3 and our Hilleberg Nallo 2 tents but as we upgraded to the luxury of a van and become lazy, with the addition of a labrador who was too big and boisterous for a tiny tent, we left that life behind us.
Sleeping in the mountains has a very unique effect on your wellbeing, it resets your mind and reminds of you of the important things in life… Nature is a powerful beast.
