Mactan-Cebu International Airport is the second busiest airport in the Philippines, after Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The airport has emerged as a major gateway to the Philippines, more than doubling international passenger traffic over the past four years. The airport is poised for more rapid international growth following the opening of a new international terminal.
This video features the new terminal of Mactan Cebu Airport. The construction of the new airport terminal began in December 2012. The project also includes renovation of the existing terminals, parking, 149 check-in counters and baggage handling system at the airport.
Wooden construction is increasingly popular lately, and in the wake of innovative timber projects including towers, sports halls, and supertall skyscrapers, comes this recently-completed Philippine airport terminal. Primarily constructed from wood, it features a striking design inspired by rolling ocean waves and a stunning interior that highlights the beauty of the material.
