Frustration, anxiety, struggle and confusion, what an artist feels in his life are condensed into a piece of art work. YU Shih-Fu deconstructs a complicated narrative and takes a simpler approach which is to concentrate on personalize experience into installations. For example in the work “Callus”, with tiny pain, an awl repeatedly rubs off the callus on a finger, and also the anxieties in the mind. In addition, work “Wait” allows viewers to identify with the sense of losing time. With a sensitive and paranoid soul, YU Shih-Fu successively makes an interpretation of “organic” feelings by a “cold” mechanical language and arouses a “tiny torture” resonance.
