A scenic hiking and wild camping montage covering day 3 of a multi day solo trek I did through the Prenj Mountain Range in Bosnia & Herzegovina, which is in the Balkans of South Eastern Europe.
This hike forms part of the Via Dinarica White Trail, which follows the highest peaks of the Dinaric Alps in The Balkans and I imagine it must be one of the best multi day hiking trails in both Europe and the world for those who like solo trekking and being completely alone in the wilderness.
This video montage covers the third day of the journey, hiking from the Meduprenje hiker’s shelter to Vrutak, where I intended to wild camp, but was forced by the weather to take shelter in an old run down hiker’s shack.
On this day, I had to face many trials such as getting lost, struggling to find water, having to navigate areas with landmines and taking shelter from a rather heavy hailstorm.
This hike was one of my absolute favourite experiences from the 20 months I spent solo travelling, but it was also one of the most challenging as I did it very spontaneously and with very little appropriate hiking gear.
The section of the Via Dinarica Trail I did was from Jablanica Lake in the West to the small village of Ruijiste and then to Boracko Lake in the East.
