What is it like to travel to Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia?
This short travel & music montage video will give you a taste of what to do and see if you’re planning a trip to Ohrid and features many of the most iconic landmarks, churches and monasteries like the streets of the old town, the churches of St. Jovan Kaneo, St. Sophia and St. Climent, the archeological site of Plaoshnik, the ancient theatre, Tsar Samuel’s Fortress and the Gorna Porta or Upper Gate.
This was part of 2 month solo backpacking trip I did through the Balkans in South Eastern Europe, although much of this time was spent with a new travel friend I made named Paula.
Ohrid, like most of the Balkans is a beautiful and rather budget friendly travel destination with an ancient history, interesting architecture and great food. We spent about a week here just exploring the streets of the old town, enjoying the beautiful scenery and going for boat rides and dips in the great lake.
I would highly recommend a visit to North Macedonia and other Balkan countries for anyone who is keen to explore a lesser known region of Europe without breaking the budget.
