Our first stop in Malaysia is Georgetown, Penang and we couldn’t be more excited to visit a new country on this journey! We have heard so much about Malaysia, especially about the food which was top of our list of things to experience!

Whilst in Georgetown we took the opportunity to visit as many of the local visits as possible, as well as the famous street art dotted around this busy city. For a budget traveller, the city is slightly more expensive than Thailand, but there are plenty of places to stay and eat whilst on a £25-30 daily budget if you know where to look!

Where we stayed: Cocoa Mews

We’re Demi and Pete, budget backpackers from the UK who gave up our life in Manchester to pursue our dream of traveling the world – one continent at a time. Since October 2021, we’ve been travelling around South and Central America, but now we’ve headed over to Asia to begin the next part of the adventure. We want to create a helpful and inviting space for fellow backpackers to get useful travel tips, budgeting tricks and insights of all the incredible places we visit, through our eyes.

We love meeting and chatting with other travellers, so please do get in touch with any suggestions, helpful tips, or just to say hello!

If you like our content, please also consider subscribing to keep up to date with our travels – we would really appreciate it!
