After a long day walking in the city, the day before, it was nice to take a boat to see the striking cliffs beyond the city of Funchal that borders the Atlantic ocean. Seeing the sprawling city from afar and the clouds brushing over Monte gave me a sense of exotic wide open space in the ocean. Meeting friends on board and exchanging where we were from. Dolphins were the first that were spotted in a relative short time as I kept a lookout. The boat had people of all ages and physical capabilities including wheelchair access. Head west to go to Cape Girao to see the highest cliff in Europe and the second in the world! I would recommend this. Also, if you want to feel how it might have been on the Santa Maria, a signature boat Christopher Columbus used to sail to the new world? There’s a replica that you can set sail aboard.
