Polish Minister for European Affairs Konrad Szymanski said that ‘it is in Europe’s interest to make Ukraine capable of winning this war,’ speaking at a press conference following Weimar Triangle ministerial meeting at the Eberbach Abbey on Friday.
Representatives of the French, Polish and German foreign ministries met for two days in an old monastery 80 km West of Frankfurt.
The politicians discussed the European response to the war in Ukraine as well as the energy crisis. The ministers called for the establishment of a special European training and assistance mission to the EU for the Ukrainian military, as well as for the revision of the EU policy guidelines on Russia amid the conflict in Ukraine. “I am very happy that we are working together with our polish colleagues to provide a maintenance hub on the Polish-Ukrainian border”, announced Anna Luhrmann German Minister of State for Europe and Climate at the Federal Foreign Office.
The French Minister of State for Europe, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Laurence Boone, called upon the need to mitigate the effects of the ‘game, that Russia is playing with the Europeans right now.’
These meetings are taking place within the framework of the Weimar Triangle, a French-German-Polish forum for discussion and cooperation established in 1991.
