Geography
The Swiss Confederation is located in Central Europe. In the south it borders with Italy, in the north with Germany, in the west with France, in the east with Austria and Liechtenstein. Geographically, the country consists of 4 parts: Northern, Southern, Central and Western. Almost the entire southern part of Switzerland is occupied by the Alps. Modern Switzerland is a federal republic, which consists of 26 cantons (20 cantons and 6 semi-cantons). They are divided into districts, and those – into cities and communities (communes). It is worth noting that many cities in Switzerland may have different names, depending on the language.
