On Tuesday afternoon (25 October 2022), volunteer firefighters, farmers, and locals worked together to extinguish a fire that threatened Vanderkloof. At around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the Vanderkloof volunteer firefighting crew received a report regarding a large fire in the region. The fire had begun at a local dumping site and quickly spread due to the high winds. The volunteer firefighting crew requested assistance from Agri-Forum, who enlisted the assistance of farmers from Orania, Philipstown, and Petrusville. The fire had decimated the Vanderkloof area, and the battle to preserve the town was on. The firefighters, assisted by the entire neighbourhood, effectively extinguished the fire by around 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
