While the banks of the Seine are famous in Paris, the Seine River south of Paris has plenty more to offer. The Palace of Fontainbleau, for example, with its extensive forest and gardens, is a must-see that this tour visits. It also passes through several towns and villages with artistic histories: Barbizon, for example, home of the Barbizon School landscape painters, and Grez-sur-Loing, a home for impressionist artists. The tour includes wonderful medieval sights as well, such as the Abbey of St. Séverin in Chateau-Landon and the beautiful-preserved medieval towns of Ferrières.
