This week we ship our self built campervan across the Med from Palermo, Italy to Tunisia in North Africa. Vanlife Africa starts now! Thanks to visa rules caused by Brexit, as a British couple who travel internationally for most of the year we can only spend 90 days in every 180 inside Schengen EU countries, meaning we have to find countries outside of this agreement to spend 3 months of winter this year. We haven’t seen many people do it, and as far as we know, no other British van lifers have attempted it, but we are taking an 11 hour ferry to Tunisia with our home.
We have no insurance, no breakdown cover, no local currency and absolutely no idea what to expect. It’s bound to be a rollercoaster!
We’re expecting culture shocks, language barriers and a lot of problem solving along the way. But this is exactly the reason we travel the world together – to experience new places and push ourselves out of our comfort zones.
