Where else can you meet Santa, eat reindeer, unwind in a sauna, visit the northernmost McDonald’s, and see the Northern Lights?
Big & Small head north of Helsinki to explore the vast Arctic land of Lapland, Finland, rich in fells, forest, lakes, and reindeer—and home to Santa Claus. We start in the Lapland capital of Rovaniemi, the largest city (by land mass) in all of Europe. We then rent a car to cross into the Arctic Circle, see Santa’s headquarters, and dodge reindeer on the road. (Fun fact: Every reindeer in Finland is owned by a herder.)
In the heart of Lapland, we check into the Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort to hunt for Aurora Borealis. Do we actually see the Northern Lights? (You’ll have to see!) We then head even further north to Inari, home to many Sami, the only indigenous people within the European Union.
