The Furka Steam Railway is the original line across the Furka Pass, on the route between Brig & Disentis/Mustér. This 18km section of line has been replaced by the Furka Base Tunnel.
The line is “summer only” due to snow & even has a removable bridge, as the line crosses an avalanche path. The highest point on the line is 2,160 metres above seal level at Furka,
Loco B.F.D 9, a HG 3/4 class was originally built for the Brig-Furka-Disentis Bahn in 1914, Sold & shipped to Vietnam in 1947, returned to Switzerland in 1990 & finally refurbished to run again from 1993.
