Rasnov Fortress, called Cetatea Rasnov in Romanian, is situated in the city that has the same name, Rasnov, which is near Brasov. It was build as a defense system for Transylvanian villages against Tartar and Turkish hordes during the 13th and 14th centuries, and is considered to be one of the most well preserved “Rural Citadels” in Romania.
The price for adults is 2.5 euros and for child it’s 1.2 euros.
You can reach the fortress from Brasov, it’s 17km far from Rasnov. If you have a rented car or your own car it’s great because you can easily park your car and visit it. It’s also only 180km far from Bucharest, so it’s very easily accessible for travellers.
Sadly, as you can see in the video, the citadel was under renovation when we were there, so we couldn’t get in. Still, I got some very nice drone shots of the fortress and the city. As you can see, the city view is breathtaking from the fortress and it’s a nice contrast between the past and the present.
