This is the AMIS TRIBE of eastern Taiwan and today I’m taking you for a journey to experience their culture, customs and cuisine. Starting off today we are fishing with the native “palakaw” a simple trap used to catch small shrimp and fish. I’m giving it a try myself! For lunch we cook a unique Ami’s traditional hot pot using superheated stones. After our delicious lunch we’re driving through the rice paddy fields to Ba Yang Restaurant to learn with Ba Yang herself the ancient tradition of rice wine making, before having a few drinks ourselves and dancing with the tribe elders!

This video is one of two short films I produced for Taiwan Pitch to document the indigenous culture of Taiwan. If you enjoyed it please give a thumbs up and subscribe for more videos like this!
