Lauterbrunnen Valley:
Lauterbrunnen village is nestled in one of the Alps’ most impressive valleys, surrounded by massive rock walls and high peaks. The Lauterbrunnen Valley is one of Switzerland’s most important nature reserves, with 72 roaring waterfalls, secluded valleys, flower-filled alpine pastures, and secluded mountain hotels.

“Lauter Brunnen” – the name of the village alone evokes the uniqueness of this landscape: the Lauterbrunnen valley contains 72 waterfalls. The most famous is the Staubbach waterfall, one of Europe’s highest waterfalls, which flows from a rock wall nearly 300 meters high. When Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the valley in 1779, he found inspiration for his famous poem “Gesang der Geister Uber den Wassern” in the roaring waters.

The Trümmelbach waterfall, located in the heart of the “Schwarzer Mönch” mountain and hidden behind impressive rock walls, provides an equally grandiose natural spectacle. Nearly 20,000 liters of water per second rush along ten glacial waterfalls totaling about 200 meters in height. This show is only available during the summer and is accessed via an elevator in the tunnel.

Lauterbrunnen (795m) is the starting point for many of the most popular tourist destinations in the Jungfrau region. Lauterbrunnen is connected by a rack railway to the sunny terrace of Wengen on the eastern flank of the Lauterbrunnen valley, as well as the Kleine Scheidegg, where you change trains to climb the Jungfraujoch.

Mürren, a holiday resort accessible from Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg, is on the opposite side. The cable car departs from Stechelberg and takes you to the top of the Schilthorn at 2971m.
