This abandoned railway tunnel in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland was already closed in 1961. The west portal, popularly known as the enchanted “castle entrance”, used to be the entrance to the 781-metre-long tunnel, but today it is more than 50% walled up. Between the rock growth, the attentive observer will find the two old windows of the railway tunnel. The western window probably ends at the level of the tunnel tube on a concrete wall. The eastern window, however, is accessible and opens into the pitch-black railway tunnel after a few metres. It is damp, but without any visible falls or fractures.
