During my visit to the city of Canakkale, I decided to take a ferry to the Gallipoli peninsula to see if I could locate any memorials or significant sites from the Gallipoli military campaign in the First World War where the Entente powers (Britain, France and the Russian Empire) tried, and failed, to weaken the Ottoman Empire by taking control of the Ottoman straits.
I wasn’t having much luck finding anything but I did make a new friend, a street dog, who decided to protect me on my journey, getting into some scrapes along the way.
