Hiking in the swiss alps is truly an experience you will never forget. The mountains are amongst the most fascinating in the world and definitely the pride of Switzerland. On my 90 days cycling journey through Europe, I had the pleasure to experience the best that switzerland had to offer.
After landing in someone’s yard in the last video, that same person who filmed my landing, invited me in his house to spend a couple of days with him. The next day we decided to hike up the mountains and discover new beautiful places. The journey started in Val de Bagnes in the french side of Switzerland and we took 2 cable cars. The first one lead to a small touristy village called Verbier at 1490 meters AMSL, followed by a second ride to Croix des Ruinettes at 2190 meters AMSL.
After we arrived, we started hiking the trail to lac de Louvie which on its shore has a little hotel/restaurant called cabane de Louvie. For more than half of the hike, the view was blocked by thick fog caused by the humidity from the heavy rain yesterday. While having a break and eating at the highest point on this hike (Col Termin – 2648 m) the sky got clear and we had an amazing view over the entire landscape. Once we arrived at the Lac de Louvie, I really wanted to feel the cold water, so I plunged into the lake almost immediately. It felt amazing being there in that moment. Enjoy watching the video!

There is a lot to tell and show about this epic bike journey. I’ve had very beautiful and exciting moments but also moments of pain, frustration and misery. Traveling on bike for such long distances teaches you who you really are, what you really want in life and what you are made of.
