Episode two begins with catching a high-speed train out of desperation and continuing on to the frontier of the EU through Serbia.

Since our first collaboration in 2018, both Owen and I continued travelling Mexico on the notorious freight train known as ‘The Beast’. That is, until 2020, when Owen was kidnapped by the Cartel in a train yard, on the border between the US and Mexico. For 3 years, Owen took a hiatus from travelling, until we met up in early 2023, to traverse the busiest migration route in Europe by freight train. This video is part 1 of a 2 part series documenting that journey.

Due to travelling Northbound through Europe, the main challenge we would face was the high level of border security and control surrounding freight trains. There is in fact, a huge difference with riding northbound and southbound, which is why most of the video you will see on YouTube feature only southbound travel. For a different perspective, we tested the security and viability of travelling through Europe on freight in 2023, so you don’t have to.
We do not wish to diminish the importance and severity of migrant journeys anywhere in the world. This video is simply a look at the security, scenery and circumstances of these kinds of journeys.
