The Vietnamese will scam and rip you off if you let your guard down. Be careful!
I love the bike riding around town. I think Ninh Binh should concentrate on that as it's a beautiful area to ride in with all the karsts nearby. That restaurant against the karst in the middle of nowhere is super cool! I love that it's away from the crowds/tourists and you get a nice scenery while eating.
You shouldn't do the boat tour in Tam Coc because there are lots of scams there . I recommend the one in Vân Long , the scenery there is much more gorgeous , less touristy and there are no annoying insistent beer/snack vendors . That spot is wilder than Tam Coc or Trang An and is a hidden sanctuary for birds like cranes , storks , teals , etc…and especially for endangered langurs .
Spectacular scenery in VN and so diverse too.
