  1. I did a Georgian wine tasting at my home home with friends. 8 White/orange and 4 reds. All qvevri. All somewhere between 14 and 22 Euro's. Price/quality/intriguing wise they were all great. If you live in Europe you have no excuse not to order some and try them out. Matthew, if I were to visit the Kakheti region in the near future for a holiday would I be able to communicate with the wine makers, locals and winebars? I have some basic Russian (yes, no, 3 beers please, etc.), but zero Georgian.

  2. In Oregon, there are a couple wineries playing with these. WinderLea has one and does a Pinot noir and Pinot blanc with theirs Beneath the tasting room. Teutonic has two of them and uses them quite a bit as well with their creative approach to “German” wines.

  3. It's interesting to see amphorae making a comeback. I know a lot of producers in Bourgogne and Bordeaux are experimenting or already using amphorae in aging their wines, but I don't think I've heard of any using them for vinification. Anything that gives winemakers options in making and blending their wines is a good thing and I'm glad more producers are turning away from heavy oak usage.

  4. One of the best episodes ever! Love orange wines and amphora wines ! Josko Gravner and that guys from the friuli Slovenian region make a lot of delicious of that kind of wine! Cheers and thanks 🙏

  5. Love amphora wines generally if a winemaker has chosen to use them it's because they are passionate about making good stuff, Esencia rural Tinaja airen is a cheap amphora wine where the vessel is buried directly in the vineyard VERY volatile but a damn good time to drink
