    We are Dominic and Emma. Travelling together as a couple for the last 10 years, we started off backpacking through South East Asia and in 2016 began vanlife as a means to travel with our pug, Percy. Since then, we have slowly been upgrading; from our first self-build micro-camper Renault Kangoo to our Mercedes Sprinter LWB, and now our Fiat Ducato Hymer Swing Motorhome. Vanlife allows us to not only travel with our dog, but experience travelling through places and enjoying the journey, not just the destination. We are advocates for not allowing financial circumstance to be a barrier to travel. Instead we know there is Always Away!

      You know how many times I had to look and re-look at this thumbnail to be convinced that it wasn’t Chris face-swapped onto Sharla’s head?

      Not gonna lie. I thought the thumbnail was Sharla and that this was some smear piece about Chris and Sharla actually being his sister…. I just woke up 😛

      Now I get it! I was so confused when I saw Sharla and Emma then called her, her sister, but she had that accent. If I didn't see the Sister part here, I thought Chris was dating Emma and was Sharlas sister.

      Your sister is 40? really, looks at least 10 years than that. Am I the only one that's thinking that Chris's sister looks a lot like Chris's girlfriend? ( Yes, different people) That's what struck me. Regarding moving I'm trying to find a flat in Banbury, Oxfordshire at the moment. I've found it rather stressful.

      im a norwegian and cant wait to see your travling videos to norway! 😀 a tip the western part of norway is a beauty with a lot of mountains and fjords etc where as the most populous area (east part of "the spoon", near Oslo) is more flatish (not denmark flat mind you)

      Oh. Chris, no. She bit you because she was overstimulated. Tortoiseshell cats especially are sensitive, and have rippling skin syndrome. Watch for shivers down the back, or twitching of their body in any form, their tail tips, their ears, those are signs to STOP petting. They don't know how to communicate to "please stop touching me, I feel uncomfortable" so they either run away, use their paw to push your hand away, scratch you, or bite you. Or turn and hiss. When I learned that cuddle time with my girl became a lot easier. I could pet her for 10 minutes sometimes and other times only like one minute before the ripples start. I would stop, and happy kitty. If I kept petting even seeing the skin ripples, I would get bit. (Gently though at first, worse if I didn't listen). You just have to get used to reading cat body language. Ears back, eyes wide, breathing quickly amd heavily, or the tail twitching at the tip, are all signs of distress. You may see one of these and assume the cat wants to stop being pet. They're not like dogs, you can't keep absentmindedly stroking them. You have to pay attention to your cat when you pet them.

      As the neophyte who will admit right up front that he has never tried to live in Japan, I look at that as small talk. Talking about your ability to use chopsticks is like talking about the weather: It's the most immediately noticeable difference between yesterday and today. It's your opportunity to assuage their fears that you're going to speak language(s) that they can't comprehend; it's your opportunity to pivot the conversation toward something more engaging:
      Yeah! I learned how to use chopsticks before I even took my first trip to Japan! Now that I've been here a few years, it's almost as natural to me as it would be to you! or Yeah! It's the best way to eat udon! I love trying different udon stalls around the city. Which are your favorites? or I'm still working on it! Sometimes I wonder if you guys using forks and knives feel as lost as I felt the first time I tried chopsticks. When do they teach you how to use western utensils?
      I'm running with the assumption that most of them would be too shy to be asking interrogative questions, but rather have been trained to find something complimentary to say, especially if it's a chance to honor the mystique of meeting a guest in their country. Further running with the assumption that westerners are more snarkastic than most Japanese (though I'm told that people in Kyoto can be really sharp with their capacity to say what they don't mean while meaning what they don't say), and it really shouldn't be taken as aggression at all, so much as their implied self-effacing acknowledgement that they're impressed by your worldliness.
      I also assume that it's not like natives don't struggle to make small-talk or make new friends themselves, so being offended could actually be seen as naive self-isolation on the part of the gaijin who's assuming that there's anything more to it than, again, just talking about the weather.
