This is a recording of final approach, with touch and go aborted landing and go around to successful landing of a Lufthansa Boeing 747-400 at YVR Vancouver airport from Frankfurt.
It starts with approach over Vancouver, turning at Surrey for final approach into YVR at 04:30, and touch & Go landing aborted at 09:42 with go around south of the airport for final successful landing at 23:24
The go around route 24:45 is an unusual route for any approach into YVR especially for a Boeing 747 at low altitude, going over BC Ferry terminal at Tsawwassen, Delta, with White Rock in the distance and back to YVR
The view of Vancouver, Burnaby and other cities as well as the local mountains on approach is very clear.

My sister’s Lufthansa flight just did same thing 4-25-23 landing in Frankfurt. Something about tail wind speed being outside of their parameters. Pilots said nothing during maneuver and passengers were definitely surprised.
Great video! I can see why the first landing attempt was aborted, the pilots must have felt there wasn't enough runway space for deceleration safely, seeing how close the end of the runway was at the end of the video. Excellent decision on the pilot's part.
I caught this flight on approach[ not sure if it was first or second] on my cars dashcam as I crossed over the bridge. I noticed specifically after watching Paul Lucas' video the day before about how LH are the only ones flying 747's
what is the object flying through the shot at 8.48 ?
Hmm just watched. I guess landings aren’t automatic? Their manual?
Hi ! Take a look at this video at 3:38 ! 😉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyBC0Njtfc4
Great video! l love the views of my home city! Thank you for posting!
I was in YVR from New Zealand that exact day and I'm pretty certain I saw a 747 go over my hotel away from the approach flight path. Also when I was in Toronto I saw a 747 go around on flightradar, funny coincidence. Awesome video keep it up!
Why was the landing aborted?
So beautiful
What a Beautiful Sight Seeing and in this case one don't mind an Aborted take off so u can enjoy the seen a little longer and after all u landed Safely !! Thanks for the video clip I enjoyed this !! 😊😊
Had an A350 Lufthansa abort once at YVR in 2018
Very nice pointing out all these geographical locations. I had no idea Vancouver had this many high-rise buildings throughout the metro area. Incredible
Beautiful! Somewhere I've never been. So cool seeing mountains in the background w/ all these surrounding cities 🙂 . Is it generally calm over there? Im near the other coast, lol.
Gentlemen a great video, thanks for posting.
If he was non stop from Frankfurt I bet his fuel tanks were getting down there. Lucky he didn't have to divert or go around a third time. Anyway beautiful clear day.
Why aborted the approach? I'll don't understand the cabin crew…
