While we were staying in Kyoto we decided to do a day trip to Nara, the historic city in Japan that is famous for being filled with sacred deer.

Doing a Nara day trip from Kyoto independently was very easy and cheap, and we managed to visit most of the main attractions in one day. Besides the deer hanging out in Nara Park (and everywhere else in the city), we saw the Todai-ji Temple, Isui-en Garden, Kasuga-taisha Shrine, and more.

There are a lot of things to do in Nara, so it’d definitely be worth spending a few days here if you had the time. But if you’re on a tight schedule, don’t worry, because you can still do a lot.

If you’re looking for a great day trip from Kyoto, make sure you check out all the cool things you can do with one day in Nara in our travel vlog.
